Jiji Line is one of the five special lines in Taiwan. I started to take the train at Dajia station (Taichung City) to Ershui station (Changhua County) and then transferred to Jiji Line.
Here’s the route:
Dajia station→(South) → Ershui station→transfer to Jiji Line at Ershui station
Jiji Line:
Ershui→Yuanquan→Zhuoshui→Jiji→Shuili→Checheng
**Tickets:
One day pass: Adult NTD 90, Children NTD 40. You can also buy the ticket in cash or use the easy card.
First stop: Checheng station
Checheng is old station and located in Nantou County. Because Checheng is located in the mountain, it is full of wood. There are lots of wooden product shops around the station. Also, you can buy the wooden product and do it by yourself.
There is a lake close to the station. Children can feed fish and walk around the lake. There’s an old street as well. You can have your lunch there and the famous one is the wooden lunch box. There is an ice shop under a big tree. People eat ice cream or canned ice and sit under the tree. It is quite relaxing because the scenery in front of you is the mountain.

(The train is not work, people often sit on the rail or stand to take the photo)
(People sit and enjoy their canned ice)
Second stop: Jiji station
Because of the one-day trip, I didn’t stay in Jij for too much time. I just walked around the station. Jiji town is one of the place extremely destroyed by the 921 earthquake. Therefore, many of the houses and schools were rebuilt. An old street around the station. You will find out each house looks the same in the street.
The famous food in Jij is banana. You can also find egg roll with banana flavor. A farmer market is just 50 meters in front of the station where you can buy the local fruit or vegetables from the local farmers. In addition to walk around the Jiji town, you can also rent a bike and ride farer to see the beautiful spot.
